In response to a significant backlog of electricity outages in various parts of the city, the eThekwini Municipality’s Electricity Department says it has intensified efforts to restore power to affected customers.
In a statement, the city says a systematic approach is being implemented to expedite the repair process and ensure successful outcomes.
“Dedicated teams are diligently working across different areas of the city to carry out the extensive tasks required for restoring electricity supply.”
“However, the municipality has encountered challenges, particularly with response times, due to violent protests and road blockades hindering team access to affected areas. Residents are urged to cooperate with the city authorities to facilitate smoother operations and faster resolution of electricity faults,’ said the statement.
The municipality also said that it acknowledges the inconvenience and frustration experienced by residents enduring prolonged power outages, it also said the situation has been further complicated by recent illegal strike actions and vandalism targeting critical infrastructure.
