Magnum Cricket Club claim iLembe T20 title Johannesburg North’s Rising Six Future Stars Aim for Africa Cup

The KwaDakuza club went unbeaten on their way to the championship, toppling Nkobongo Cricket Club in the final. Kwadakuza’s Magnum Cricket Club cruised to victory on their return to the iLembe District SM Holdings T20 League last weekend. The team went unbeaten on the way to the title, grabbing four bonus point wins along the way, before facing the Nkobongo Cricket Club in Sunday’s file. Nkobongo team won the toss and chose to bowl in a shortened 15-over innings due to a wet outfield. Opposing team Magnum’s batsmen made quick work of the attack, reaching 135 to 3 in their allotted 15 overs. The men from Nkobongo never got going in their chase and were restricted to 50 for 8, handing Magnum an 85-run win.

iLembe Cricket Union president, Desigan Pillay, congratulated the team. “I have seen the team putting in a lot of hard work at practice and on the pitch and I hope the players will feed into the sub-union team for the upcoming provincial competition in September,” he said. In other union news, Pillay thanked CMH Ford for their sponsorship of the district U13 schools tournament, which will draw to a close next month.
