Radio Al-Ansaar, in collaboration with its flagship education programme School Matters produced and presented by Sumaya Khan, has successfully completed a significant school uniform outreach initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable learners across KwaZulu-Natal. This project was undertaken in partnership with the Al-Ansaar Foundation, Al-Ansaar Outreach, and the organisation’s leadership, including the Board of Directors, Chairman Mr Ashfaq Dawood, CEO Mr Yunus Sakoor, and Radio Station Manager Mr Faizal MJ Suleman. .
Through this meaningful campaign, more than 100 learners received school uniform vouchers valued at R500 each. These vouchers were redeemed at GEMS, who further extended their generosity by donating an additional 10 uniforms. The initiative focused on schools serving learners in urgent need, ensuring that assistance reached families facing financial strain.
Schools were invited to submit motivational letters outlining why their learners required immediate support. After a careful review process, the following schools were selected: Charles Hugo Primary, Hillgrove Primary, Centenary High, Pemary Ridge Primary, Clareville Primary, George Campbell, Anjuman Islamic, and West Park.
The uniform handover took place at the GEMS store in Overport, where learners and their parents personally received their uniforms. Many parents expressed heartfelt gratitude, noting the emotional and financial relief this initiative has provided. For countless children, receiving a brand-new uniform marked a moment of pride, dignity, and renewed confidence.
This initiative reflects Radio Al-Ansaar’s long-standing commitment to education and community upliftment. For decades, both Al Ansaar Outreach and the School Matters programme have championed learner welfare, promoting access, equity, and support for those most in need. Sumaya Khan, an ardent education advocate, continues to drive these efforts through consistent outreach and engagement with local schools.
Radio Al-Ansaar extends sincere appreciation to all sponsors, donors, and partners for their unwavering support. Their generosity has made a tangible and lasting difference in the lives of learners and their families.
The Al Ansaar Foundation remains dedicated to serving the community strengthening education, uplifting families, and inspiring hope, one learner at a time.
