Spreading Smiles at Northdale Hospital: PMB Muslim Scouts and Partners Bring Cheer to Young Patients

Date: 18 July 2025

In the spirit of Mandela Day, the Pietermaritzburg Muslim Scouts, in collaboration with the Mountainrise Community Policing Forum (CPF), brought joy and comfort to the young patients of the pediatric ward at Northdale Hospital on Friday, 18 July.

The team came bearing thoughtful gifts—brightly coloured toys, engaging books, and tasty treats—aimed at lifting the spirits of children undergoing medical care. The initiative was a heartwarming display of community service, compassion, and unity.

Also joining the day’s activities was the librarian from the Northdale Library, who added a special storytelling segment, creating a safe space of imagination and wonder for the children. This segment allowed young minds to escape into stories of adventure and hope, even if just for a little while.

Al Ansaar played a key role in supporting and spotlighting the outreach, reaffirming its commitment to uplifting vulnerable communities through meaningful partnerships and public engagement.

Together, the Scouts, CPF, library staff, and Al Ansaar demonstrated how simple gestures of kindness can make a lasting impact—one smile at a time.
