Al Ansaar Foundation Mobilizes Relief Effort for Tongaat Storm Victims

In response to the devastating storms that recently ravaged Tongaat, the Al Ansaar Foundation’s Outreach team will be heading back to the area on Monday, 10 June 2024, to provide essential aid to those displaced by the severe weather.

The outreach team has identified critical needs among the affected population, which include blankets, jerseys, diapers, clothing, and other necessities to help them endure the cold days ahead. Displaced individuals are currently taking shelter in facilities provided by the provincial government, although some have chosen to remain in their damaged homes to protect their remaining possessions.

The Al Ansaar Outreach team acknowledges that they cannot manage this enormous task alone and is therefore appealing to the community for support. The coordinator of the initiative has outlined the specific items required: blankets, jerseys, diapers, hygiene packs, clothing, water, and non-perishable foods. Additionally, the team plans to prepare hot meals for those affected and is seeking cash donations to help fund these efforts.

“The need is urgent,” said the coordinator. “We are calling on everyone to contribute whatever they can to assist the victims of this tornado.”

Community members wishing to contribute can drop off donations at the Al Ansaar Foundation office or contact the foundation directly to arrange for pickups. All contributions, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in the lives of those struggling to rebuild after the storm.
