Al Ansaar Outreach proudly hosted its fifth annual Ghusl Workshop for Sisters on Saturday, 24 October 2026, bringing together community members eager to gain essential Islamic knowledge on the sacred practice of preparing the deceased for burial.
The workshop proved to be a resounding success, with esteemed Mualimaat sharing expert guidance and hands-on experience with attendees. The educational session emphasized maintaining dignity, modesty, compassion, and respect throughout the burial preparation process.
Empowering Sisters Through Essential Knowledge
Originally established by Sister Swaleha and the late Mr. Joosab, the initiative equips sisters with the practical knowledge required to fulfill this crucial responsibility within the Muslim community.
Over the past five years, the programme has expanded significantly:
- Growing Community Demand: Increasing interest has led to requests to host the workshop across various suburbs in and around Durban.
- Community Service: Equipping more women with the skills needed to serve grieving families during times of loss.
- Preserving Sacred Rites: Ensuring the proper Sunni Islamic procedures and adab (etiquette) of janazah care are passed down to future generations.
Expressing Heartfelt Gratitude
Al Ansaar Outreach extends its sincere appreciation to the Mualimaat, staff, and dedicated volunteers, including Hajra and Mumtaz, for ensuring the smooth execution of the event. Special recognition goes to Mr. Randeree from Muslim Burial for his operational support.
The organization also thanks key sponsors, including Ozark Media, F. Joosab, and all cash and in-kind donors. May Allah Ta’ala reward everyone who contributed and grant the late Mr. Joosab the highest stages of Jannah. Ameen.
