On Tuesday, 18 June 2025, the Al Ansaar Outreach Department, in partnership with SAPS and Lifeline, undertook a deeply moving and impactful initiative at the Durban Coastal Mental Health Clinic. The event commenced at 2:30 PM and marked the second visit by the Outreach team to the facility a testament to the continued commitment to building relationships and uplifting the lives of the residents at the clinic.
The day was filled with warmth, compassion, and connection, as the Outreach team dedicated their time to engaging both the elderly and younger residents of the facility. These moments, often simple in nature a conversation, a shared laugh, a thoughtful gesture reminded everyone of the power of human connection and community support in mental wellness.
The Al Ansaar Outreach team was proudly represented by Swaleha Shaik, the dedicated Manageress of the Outreach Department, and Halimah Asmal, a valued team member known for her consistent service to community upliftment. They were joined by Hajirah Chapola from the Al Ansaar Events Team, whose joyful spirit helped bring a sense of celebration to the day.
Adding to the heart of the visit were well-known personalities from the Al Ansaar media division. Fathima Karim, popular radio presenter and manager of the Al Ansaar Book and Media Centre, brought her familiar voice and vibrant energy, while Fathima Dawjee, part of the Al Ansaar Radio Compliance Team, added a layer of professional insight and quiet support to the initiative.
Together, these individuals brought not only their professional strengths but their compassion, humility, and sincere care to every interaction.
This initiative was more than just a visit — it was a reminder that every person, regardless of circumstance, deserves dignity, attention, and the reassurance that they are not forgotten. As mental health continues to be a growing concern across South Africa, collaborative efforts like these between NGOs, law enforcement, and wellness organisations are crucial in bridging societal gaps and providing a sense of hope and belonging to those who need it most.
Al Ansaar Outreach extends its deepest gratitude to SAPS and Lifeline for their unwavering support and shared vision in making this day a success. As we look ahead, we remain committed to nurturing these relationships and continuing our journey of care, healing, and community upliftment.
Together, we make a difference ,one heartfelt encounter at a time.
