Al Ansaar PMB Hosts Successful Free Medical Screening in Partnership with Midlands Specialists Private Hospital

The Al Ansaar Foundation Pietermaritzburg, in collaboration with Midlands Medical Specialists Private Hospital, proudly hosted a free community medical screening on Wednesday, 18 June 2025 at its premises located at 240 Ohrtmann Road.

The initiative, held between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM, formed part of Al Ansaar’s broader mission to make essential health care more accessible to the public. Over the course of the morning, more than 70 individuals from surrounding communities took advantage of the free health services offered.

Attendees were screened for blood pressure, blood glucose, and body mass index (BMI), with healthcare professionals from Midlands Specialists on hand to provide guidance, referrals, and medical insight. An onsite educational segment highlighted the importance of regular health checks, early detection, and preventative care.

In a special highlight, Razia Rangrage, presenter of Urban Women, broadcasted live from the Al Ansaar Crafter (mobile studio), bringing a vibrant and empowering voice to the event. Her presence drew many listeners and community members who came especially to engage with the programme and meet her in person.

The event also offered the opportunity to engage with a wide range of doctors and healthcare professionals, deepening the community’s understanding of common health concerns and lifestyle-related risks. A key on-air moment featured Dr Sanjay Sadhwani, who generously shared valuable insight and practical medical advice with listeners tuning in to Al Ansaar Radio PMB.

The event was driven by the planning, coordination, and on-the-ground leadership of Hudaa Ahmed, who oversaw every aspect of execution – from logistics to live coverage – ensuring a seamless and professional experience for guests, staff, and listeners alike.

Live coverage on Al Ansaar Radio – 105.6FM PMB further amplified the event’s reach, with educational content, expert interviews, and uplifting community engagement.

Guests also enjoyed a warm, welcoming environment, complete with refreshments, and the support of dedicated volunteers and staff.

The success of the screening was made possible through the generosity of sponsors, the dedication of the Midlands healthcare team, and the tireless efforts of Al Ansaar’s presenters, technical crew, and administrative support.

This initiative stands as a shining example of community empowerment through collaboration, compassion, and shared vision. Al Ansaar PMB looks forward to building on this momentum in future outreach programmes, In Shaa Allah.
