Recipe of the week: Glazed Doughnuts

Ingredients:
-3 tblsp unsalted butter, melted
-3 tblsp sugar
-¹/² tsp salt
-1 large egg
-125ml full fat milk
-1 tsp instant yeast
-2 cups bread flour and a little extra for rolling

Glaze:
-5 tblsp unsalted, melted butter
-3 tblsp full cream milk
-1 tsp vanilla essence
-2 cups icing sugar

Method:
1.Add butter, sugar, salt & egg into a bowl then mix together.
2.Now add the yeast into the milk and mix together then leave aside for 5 mins.
3.Add the milk and yeast mixture into the butter mixture then beat for a few minutes.
4.Now gradually add the flour and knead to make a soft dough.
5.Cover the dough with cling wrap then leave to rise.
6.When the dough rises, roll it out on a floured surface then use a doughnut cutter and form doughnut shapes removing the centre holes.
7.Arrange the doughnuts on a greased baking tray then cover with cling wrap and leave to rise again.
8.Heat oil in a large pot then fry the doughnuts until golden brown over medium heat.
9.When the doughnuts are cool, drizzle with the glaze.

Method for glaze:
1.Add all the ingredients into a bowl and mix together.
2.Drizzle over the doughnuts or dunk the top of the doughnuts into the glaze.

Variation:
-Roll doughnuts in cinnamon & sugar
-Dunk doughnuts in melted brown, white or caramel chocolate
-Dunk doughnuts in melted chocolate then sprinkle with 100s & 1000s or grated peppermint crisp chocolate or Flake chocolate or crushed Oreo biscuits or any other delicious topping.
