Trump will Attend G Seven in Paris where US and Israel war in Iran will raise heated discussion

The G Seven 2026 summit is under preparation as foreign ministers from the respective nations of the United States, United Kingdom, France, Canada, Italy, Germany and Japan meet in Paris, France to plan who will be in attendance. The ministers meet against a backdrop of escalating oil prices due to the ongoing wars the US is waging in Iran, alongside Israel and Russia is engaging in Ukraine, respectively. Both wars have reached a stalemate with no true victor.

The squeeze on supply has pushed oil and natural gas prices higher, with drastic knock-on effects for supply chains in countless industries. French Finance Minister Roland Lescure said the G-7 meeting, to be held via video conference, would include energy and finance ministers as well as central bank chiefs and the heads of other international agencies. “There are already differences in the responses largely linked to differences in exposure to the crisis,” Mr Lescure told a news conference on March 27, stressing that Asia was particularly exposed to the turmoil. “That is one of the reasons why we wanted to convene a G-7 of finance, energy and central banks,” he said.

The latest round of cuts is expected to hit Meta’s engineering and product teams in particular and additional layoffs could come later in 2026, said people familiar with the company’s plans.

The current crisis is largely expected to send seismic shockwaves through major industries and cause a reduction in employment statistics. The key solution for major economies is to reach a consensus on a sustainable solution that will see the implementation of ceasefires in the respective regions. The risk of allowing the unresolved conflicts of Iran and Ukraine to fester could see further disruption to fuel, energy and food prices. Observers and the common masses must be wary when politicians, industrialists and bankers or their representatives meet in one place. Agendas will be the major topic of discussion. The developing world, particularly African nations (represented at the Paris Summit by Kenya as an observer state, after South Africa was removed from the invitation list) must watch closely.

US President Donald Trump has made his intentions to attend the Paris gathering clear. The Summit from 15 to 17 June will discuss Artificial Intelligence (AI) trade, and the fight against crime as stated in Washington’s agenda for the G Seven meeting.

The G7 meeting, hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron, is scheduled to be held a day after Trump’s 80th birthday, which will be celebrated with UFC cagefights at a specially erected arena on the White House lawns. Axios, quoting a White House official, said that the G-7 meeting won’t produce actual signed deals but instead seeks to build consensus on which future agreements can be based. Though Iran will likely be on the agenda, Trump is expected to talk more about business, particularly linking US aid with trade that “are mutually beneficial for both investor and recipient nations,” Axios reported.

Trump is well known for being a renown showman since his days as a business reality TV personality. His birthday as usual will be a spectacle that will attract the ire of his critics. However, when Trump arrives in Paris, he cannot ignore the mayhem he has created across markets concerning the pursuit of carnage in Iran. Promising aid to US allies in exchange for opening their markets to American goods is the carrot approach, following the lowering of tariffs. Trump’s main agenda now is to improve his popularity ratings in the US in time for Congressional elections in November.

In the coming weeks we will come to know more, concerning Trump’s plans.
